Cursed is a 2005 horror film by director Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson, the creators of Scream. The plot focuses on three young adults who are attacked by a werewolf loose in Los Angeles. They must find and kill their attacker, or suffer a fate worse than death. The movie premiered on November 7, 2004, at the American Film Market and was released theatrically in 2005. It was filmed in Los Angeles, California, United States, with special effects shot in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Plot
The film begins when two friends, Jenny Tate (Mýa) and Becky Morton (Shannon Elizabeth), are at a pier and decide to get their fortune told by Zelda (Portia de Rossi). She foretells death and horror soon, but they don't believe her and walk away laughing. A little while later, Jenny realizes Becky has disappeared and can't find her on the pier. Becky was driving. One night, while in a car together, Jimmy (Jesse Eisenberg) and his sister Ellie (Christina Ricci) hit an animal and another car. They attempt to rescue the other driver, Becky Morton, who is dragged off and eaten. Jimmy and Ellie are both slashed by the creature's claws. Jimmy starts to believe that the creature was a werewolf, but no one will believe him. He and his sister start to exhibit wolfish tendencies, but Ellie denies it, apparently proving her point by touching a silver picture frame and not getting burned. Jimmy becomes much stronger, as shown when a bully named Bo (Milo Ventimiglia) forces him to join the wrestling team. He easily defeats three wrestlers, including Bo.
Meanwhile, Jenny is torn apart in a parking garage by a wolf-like creature. Zelda's prediction for Jenny and Becky comes true. Eventually Ellie starts to believe the werewolf idea, and Jimmy proves it when he holds a silver cake server and gets burned. He goes to warn Ellie with the help of Bo, who shows up at their house to admit to Jimmy that he's gay and apparently likes Jimmy. Bo and Jimmy race to the place where Ellie is, and in the meantime she figures out that her boyfriend Jake (Joshua Jackson) is a werewolf. He confirms that but claims it wasn't him that attacked her and Jimmy. Another werewolf attacks, seemingly proving his story. Bo and Jimmy try to help, but Bo is knocked out. The new werewolf is revealed to be Joanie (Judy Greer), a publicist who had a one night stand with Jake and became a werewolf. She wants revenge by killing all of the other girls he dates. He refuses to let her hurt Ellie, and she knocks him out. Joanie soon turns into a werewolf and starts attacking. Ellie and Jimmy fight her, and she finally runs and hides when the police arrive. The two draw her out by insulting her. The police open fire, apparently killing her. The only way to kill a werewolf is to separate the brain from the heart. As she rises again, a cop shoots her in the head, finally killing her. Bo is okay, but Jake has disappeared.
Jimmy and Ellie return to a wrecked home. Their dog bit Jimmy and became a werewolf as well and destroyed the house in an uncontrollable rage. As Jimmy goes to try to fix the power, Jake arrives. He reveals that he did in fact bite Ellie and Jimmy, and he wants Ellie to live forever by his side after he kills Jimmy. She refuses, and the two fight it out, but her werewolf side only emerges and disappears at small intervals, while he has complete control over his werewolf side and dominates the fight. Jimmy joins in, climbing across the ceiling and biting Jake, distracting him long enough for Ellie to stab him with the silver cake server, badly injuring him. Ellie decapitates Jake with a shovel and breaking the curse on her, Jimmy and their dog. A girl Jimmy likes named Brooke (Kristina Anapau) shows up with their dog, having learned where they live from Bo, who also shows up. Bo and Jimmy are now friends. Jimmy kisses Brooke and walks her home along with Bo. Ellie goes to clean up the mess that is their house.

Production
The movie was postponed for over a year due to production and script problems. Several cast members had to be replaced due to scheduling conflicts with other movies.
When the production was stalled, many cast members were cut, including Skeet Ulrich, Mandy Moore, Omar Epps, Illeana Douglas, Heather Langenkamp, Scott Foley, Robert Forster, and Corey Feldman. Some of these actors even filmed scenes which were scrapped by director Wes Craven.
The set used for Jimmy's high school is Torrance High School, the same used for Sunnydale High on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and West Beverly High on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and it's spin off "90210".
Filming also occurred at Verdugo Hills High School.[1]
In the USA, the film was originally to be released as an MPAA R-rated film with graphic violent scenes. However, the studio wished to have a more marketable PG-13 rating, and the film was edited and released as a PG-13 film.
In Canada, the uncut version of the film was released theatrically and received a 14A in Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario and a 14 in the Maritimes (after appeal) and a 13+ in Quebec. In British Columbia, the film was given an 18A and after an unsuccessful appeal[2], the edited US version was submitted, 14A-rated and released in British Columbia.
Box office
The movie opened on February 25, 2005, in theaters, grossing $19 million at the North American box office.
When released on DVD in the USA on June 21, 2005, two versions were available: the original theatrical version, rated PG-13, and also an unrated version which contains the footage cut to obtain a PG-13 rating and runs 3 minutes longer than the original release. In Canada, Alliance Atlantis released the unrated (marketed as 'Uncensored') version only on DVD (as opposed to Dimension Home Video in North America) and the DVD cover was changed to match the original theatrical poster.

Lazy Horror
The problem with werewolf movies is that they're very self limited .
Theo Robertson from Isle Of Bute , Scotland - 12 June 2009THE WOLF MAN from 1941 has a threadbare plot and to get any mileage
from the concept Larry Talbot had to meet up with Dracula and the
Frankenstien Monster in order to continue the saga . John Landis
probably made the best werewolf story of having an American werewolf
stalking London in a fiendishly funny story but since then it's been a
rare Signora . American Werewolf In Paris was poor , GINGER SNAPS was
more about teenage angst than lycanthrophy while DOG SOLDIERS was
highly entertaining but could have featured any type of monsters such
as vampires or zombies or aliens CURSED could come in for the same criticism as DOG SOLDIERS in that
vampires could be used as the monsters . The difference being though
that while Neil Marshall's film was very entertaining this Wes Craven /
Kevin Williamson combination has a seen it all before feel to it . Some
people have defended it by saying much of the gore has been edited out
but I doubt very much if more gore had made it a better film in any way
. The problem lies in it being full of good looking young Americans
just like you'd see him most American slasher films and whilst
Williamson does bring a witty scene where someone confides they're gay
to a friend there's nothing new here and you feel the only thing that
would have made things better was if it'd been made in 1995 instead of
ten years later
Don't Watch
I don't know where to begin. This movie I had some what low
Dillin2603 from United States - 10 March 2009expectations, the trailer said it all. Crappy wolf, oh no we are
Cursed, parts where there will be some blood blah, blah, blah. Though I
did not expect it to be this BAD. Watching this movie I had to asks
myself over and over what was Wes Craven thinking? He can do much
better. The movie had very flowed characters, as well as annoying plot
holes (not the ones you can ignore). There were pointless scenes as
well as BAD acting. Not joke I was wondering who had edited this film
because they did not do a good job in that. I feel like I wasted my
money on buying the DVD and hope to maybe get at least half my money
back when I go turn it in.Don't watch it.
What were they thinking?!
I was the ONE cursed to watch this movie. I can understand the title of
neurotic-rave from United States - 3 August 2008the movie now. At least I remember this movie for being one of the
WORST movies, if not the worst that I have ever seen. The entire time I
watched this all i could think was "is this a joke, or what?!". I
honestly couldn't take it one bit seriously. I thought it would be
somewhat OK since hot Christina Ricci is in this movie but I guess I
stand corrected. Everyone downgraded by appearing in this film. I don't
recommend anyone to go see this movie. Save yourself the hour or two,
staring at a wall is much more amusing and exciting than this horrid
"film"!
Werewolves in Hollywood
Wes Craven gave the teenage horror movie a new lease of life with his
dbdumonteil - 30 June 2008brilliant "scream" trilogy .He did not do the same with the vampire
flick (the characters are youngsters or young people)which borrows lots
of its components from many works of the past.A good example is given
by the young brother who takes his revenge like De Palma's Carrie. The
human/beast metamorphosis has been showed and showed and showed so
often it is no longer exciting (see "a werewolf in London" "howling"
"cat people" and more).Too bad Wes Craven has almost lost his sense of black humor he
displayed so masterfully in his trilogy:this script is totally
humorless, with the exceptions of one or two scenes:for instance, the
breakfast when the sister and the brother are eating raw meat as if it
were cornflakes or toasts ;or this line when the brother says to the
girl in her car that it might explode.
