  • 1 star is awful and awful this stinker is!

The voting tab says 1 is awful and awful this movie is. After viewing
it I walked it over to the trash can-truth-then remembered that a
younger member of the family hadn't seen it. Lucky them. After viewing
this I felt badly about the time wasted. I'm glad I didn't buy this
turkey, someone bought it used and gave it to us in a box of stuff.
Where it should have stayed! I came here to read the comments and they
confirm that I'm not alone in my criticism of all concerned with this
movie. Except poor Jason Bateman, maybe. Did he feel or see what was
happening during the filming? My last two comments about the movie,
Dustin Hoffman was ripping off the late, great Ed Wynn with that accent
and lisp, and it still came out Rainman. And, it was a magical toy
store with unique toys, so, the owner is stocking the shelves with
Matchbox cars? Now that is funny!

  • Loved it

Well I don't understand why so many people did not like this movie. I
thought it was totally charming. I just watched it with a group of six
friends for our monthly movie night and all of us loved it. I would
call it uplifting, in a wholesome sort of way. It was obviously not
meant to be realistic with the term "magical" in the title, so my first
thought would not be, why wasn't the media covering this store, or how
could this store exist in New York City (critiques from other
reviewers). It is a contemporary fairy tale. The movie is about magic,
human relationships, and self discovery. It is sweet, tender, warm, and
funny. The characters are quirky and lovable. There is no violence,
sex, and blessedly there are no chase scenes. Death is depicted as a
gentle transition which, ultimately, is no big deal. There are lots of
great special effects; the individual toys and the shop itself have
personalities. The toy store really is magical, and the character
development is excellent in my opinion. Ultimately, it's a film about
believing in yourself. I would gladly buy a copy of this movie and
    watch it several times!

  • Why was this movie even thought to be created?

Most of the time when i watch a bad movie, i try to give it a chance,
but this movie left a permanent scar in my brain of movie knowledge.
The trailer makes the movie look like a bunch of exciting things in a
magical store with fun children. The movie has a boy who has no
friends, an old man who dies and, a toy store that turns entirely Grey.
I was actually trying to make my body go to sleep, but it was noon and
i could not. I don,t understand the beginning of when a guy who is bald
and has a mustache start writing stories about Mr magorium. I think
Dustin Hoffman is a great actor, but i can tell in this movie he just
wanted a paycheck. So in conclusion do not watch this movie unless you
want to feel melancholy after it.

  • Awesome — Best movie i have seen in 2-2 1/2 years

Best Movie of This Century. This movie is pretty awesome. If you
haven't seen it, I highly suggest seeing it within the next 3-5 hours.
Yes, its that good. Trust me, I am 24 years old, I like to party, and
this movie is kicks boddams. PANTSSSSSSSSS! PANTSSSSSSSS! The kid with
    the hat wins, he has pretty much the coolest collection I have seen;
he's genius. The sad monkey is the only downer of the movie. He makes
me so sad I want to cry, but he does make a big come back in the end,
just you wait. You will like it :) In regards to the Toy Emporium,
where do I sign up? Pretty sure I would be happy to take over that boy.
How often do you come across a magic toy emporium; I mean seriously.
Alright thats all i've got. PANTSSSSSSSSSS!

  • This a movie is about Love,Beauty, and Magic!!!

In my opinion, people who gave this move a bad ranking because they
don't have the brain to understand the beauty of this movie. People who
gave low ranking to this move because their kids didn't like it are
even bigger morons that misjudge the value of this movie by their kids
immature brains. The movie is about Love, Beauty, and Magic and it does make it adorable,
beautiful, magical, and educational!!! And I don't understand why it
has to be only for just 3~5 years old kids? Why some of the people have
to put it into the "kid movie" this category? Because it is talking
about imagination and believing in ourself then it is not qualified to
be discussed in a higher "age" level? or higher "intellectual level"???
Imagination and creativity are really dying………People may want me to point out why this movie is good, what the
details are , which actors did good …….bla..bla…bla A good movie
doesn't need a lot of words to explain why it is good,or bla bla
bla….because it is already a good movie for sure. The problem only
lies in if people who watch it are capable of understand it and see the
real beauty of it or not.It is an excellent movie and I give it a Ten!!! Period!!!
